A Moving and Romantic Story - Jayna LaVerde Experience alone makes Jayna one of the premiere children's photographers in New England today. But it isn't experience that makes her stand out in a crowd. Her photographs tell the story much better than words can relay. Her passion with photography began when she processed her first roll of black & white film at the impressionable age of 13. Jayna discovered her destiny that day. Jayna pursued her love and fascination with photography during her high school years plunging herself into an Independent Study Class in Photography, photographing her first wedding in 1980. After attending Paier School of Art in Hamden, CT and graduating from the Hallmark Institute of Photography in 1982, she freelanced until 1986 when she opened her first studio in Southington, CT. Many of her freelance clients, including local newspapers, wedding and portrait clients followed her into her new studio, continuing to enlist her unique photographic style. While the quickly growing studio was considered a General Photography Studio offering wedding, children's, family and High School Senior photography as well as still photo work, her incredible eye for capturing the souls of children and families quickly emerged as a distinct talent. Her business grew steadily and quickly and she built a state-of-the-art Art Studio onto her home in 1990 boasting several awards for Children's photography. After years of attending photography classes offered by N.E.I.P.P, Jayna and a colleague, Jon LaVerde, discovered they had more than a love for photography in common and in 1997 they married each other and their businesses. Jayna relocated to the Boston area to be with Jon and now they have a home based studio. Putting their natural talents together, Jon focuses on his specialties; wedding photography and high school seniors. Jayna continues to establish herself in the area of children and family photography. Jayna has served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Professional Photographers Association and is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers Association of New England, and the Professional Photographers of Massachusetts.
